β€œThe focus of the 3rd semester is the architectural program and how a rigorous and creative understanding of programmatic constraints can lead to novel and compelling architectural proposals. Students engage in a critical analysis of a complex and comprehensive building program to develop functional, unique, and provocative architectural proposals that reflect sophisticated arguments about contemporary public space. The studio emphasizes graphic depiction of this analysis and design process and will be supplemented by skills developed in concurrent Design Media and Building Technologies coursework. In particular, students will work to develop their projects to a fairly high level of structural and material understanding, such that these logics both inform and are informed by programmatic and spatial concepts. The work will be informed by precedent analysis as well as representational rigor in both physical modeling and architectural drawings.”
